Which dating site should you be on?

If you’ve been following me for any length of time at all, you know that I’m all about online dating. It’s simply the best thing going if you’re serious about finding love. You can read about why here. Hopefully, you’re willing to give it a shot if you haven’t already.

If you’re ready to start dating online, but wondering which site is best, there’s a great new study by reviews.com I’d like to encourage you to read. They analyzed web traffic, matching algorithms, talked to experts and tested the sites themselves. Out of 68 contenders, they narrowed it down to a totally manageable four top picks.

These four dating sites all had a large, active, nationwide user base, a full-blown website plus an app, and were relatively easy to use. You can read the full study here.

The top four choices according to this study are:

Ok Cupid – rated best overall and free. OKC was also rated the most versatile with respect to the form of relationship being sought, best-looking site, and easiest to use.

Match.com – rated best for long-term relationships although not as easy to use as OKC.

Plenty of Fish – yielded the most responses for the testers, but the majority of these were considered poor-quality.

eHarmony – though slightly ahead of Match for producing the most marriages, it was also the most expensive dating site to use and yielded the fewest responses for the testers.

Here’s the takeaway; you need to post a great profile and put some time and effort into it, but online dating is a great way to find someone to share your life with. This study suggests that you give it at least 3 months and I wholeheartedly agree.

If you’re ready to give online dating a shot, I suggest that you create a good profile (download my free guide here), get some great pictures taken and start with OK Cupid or Match. Log on for at least 30 minutes a day and interact with people. Aim to go on 1 – 2 dates a week.

If you combine online dating with going to social events on a regular basis and being friendly in real life, you have a great shot at finding love this summer.
