How gratitude can help you find love

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday! I love the family time, the food, and the reminder to practice gratitude. I have so much to be grateful for this year. I bet you do too.

There are plenty of things that I wish were different in my life and things I’m working on, like losing ten pounds, getting my house organized, and caring for my great-aunt. I’m also dealing with the ups and downs of dating, just like you.

It’s easy to get caught up in our own dramas and to look for things we need to fix. There will always be something.

Don’t wait for your life to be perfect in order to be happy.

Whatever your situation may be, Thanksgiving is a chance to pause and practice gratitude. If you take the time to do this, it will lighten the load on your heart and remind you of how fortunate you really are.

I was recently challenged to write out 5 full pages of things I’m grateful for, not as a list, but journal-style, like a letter to God. I accepted this challenge and noticed that it put me in a great mood all day.

I’d like to encourage you to take a few minutes and do the same. Grab some paper and see what you come up with. The first page or two may flow easily, but then you may need to stretch. Do it!

Focusing on what you have instead of what you lack will put you in a better frame of mind no matter what’s going on in your life. Some of the things I wrote about were my dog, the delicious coffee I enjoy each morning, and having a warm bed to sleep in.

There are so many things to appreciate that are totally free of charge! The beautiful colors of fall, the miracle of a single snowflake, the smile of a baby. Look for the beauty in your world and you will find it.

I hope you’ll take the time to do this and that it lifts your spirits as it did mine. It’s a great reminder of all that you have and when you’re feeling happy and grateful, you’ll be more attractive, and more receptive to the love you seek.

I’m so grateful that you make room for me in your inbox each week. I wish you love this Thanksgiving and always!
xoxo
