Are you pumped up and excited about beginning a new year? Are you motivated and ready to upgrade your life? Fantastic!
Last time, I wrote about the importance of cultivating a growth mindset and being determined. Now I will cover specific things you can do to begin moving toward your goals. I’ll cover outer work in this newsletter and inner work in the next one. It’s time to step up to the plate and back that motivation up with consistent actions in order to get results.
So let’s start with the outside work. Your outer appearance is the first thing everyone sees. The outside counts, a lot! It is your very own advertisement to other members of the human race, your first chance to show people who you are.
If you would like to attract more dates, it helps to look good. If you know that your appearance could use some freshening up, now’s the time to handle that. Join a gym and start working out. Say hello to people while you are there.
Check out some magazines for new looks, hit the store and buy some clothes you look and feel terrific in. Make sure that you have a couple of nice go-to date looks. Go to the makeup counter and get a makeup application and some good advice, get some magazines and practice some fresh looks at home. Bring pictures of looks you like to a good salon and ask a hairdresser to assist you with your new look. Be willing to invest some time, money and effort into this.
You need to value yourself if you expect someone else to value you.
Practicing good self-care is a great way to value yourself and it tells the world that you have high value.
When you go out, look your best, even if you are just going to Starbucks or the grocery store. When you are single, every outing is a potential opportunity to meet someone new. Walk with your head up, slow down, take in the world and smile. Cultivate a warm, happy, approachable presence.
Finally, take consistent actions. Commit to something you can do regularly, such as going to one social event per week, smiling at someone every day, spending 30 minutes a day working on your online profile or writing to potential suitors online. Pick one thing and commit to doing it on a regular basis.
A new look can do wonders for your outlook on life, but it’s important not to stop there. Next time, we’ll talk about inner work and how it can help you build on the ideas I’ve shared today.
