Do you hope to find someone who shares your love of dogs, Bordeaux, and jazz? Maybe you hope he’ll come to yoga class with you or be open to learning to meditate? I can relate. But this outlook is not helping your love life at all. I once had a client who would not date anyone outside of her chosen profession because she insisted that they were too boring. As far as I know, she’s still looking for someone. Please don’t do this if you’re interested in finding anyone in this lifetime. It’s time to broaden your horizons and be open to meeting different types of men. If you do, you’re much more likely to be successful and you may even end up with a few new hobbies. How do you feel about people who half-ass it? The guy or girl at work who’s just coasting? The checkout person who doesn’t even bother to greet you? Probably not great. We all respect people who go all in and do the best they can. Those people inspire us. But let’s face it, it’s easier to “phone it in” sometimes. I understand (and share) the temptation to do this, but the amazing life you want does not lie at the other end of checking out. What could you achieve if you went all in on your dream? Actually pulled out all the stops and did your very best to find the love you want? What would happen if you brought your “A game” to your search for love? Do you think you’d have better results if you posted great pictures, an amazing profile, and spent time on the site/app consistently? […]
When I was a brand new coach, one of my friends asked me how I could help her find love. She wanted the answer right then, before dinner was over. She’s my friend and I wanted to help. But changing your entire life doesn’t happen in one conversation. One conversation is the beginning. Yes, a conversation can be life-changing, but it’s just a start. After the conversation, you need to think new thoughts, try new things, get new results, have more conversations. Then you do all that over and over again. And gradually, over time, you build the new life you want to create. You become the person who has the thing you want. To learn more, check out this video! When I was single I would lie awake at night wondering why. I wanted to fix it as soon as possible. I thought that once I knew the truth about myself it would change everything. But it didn’t. Just knowing something, no matter how important, doesn’t change your life or your relationship status. Knowing is only the beginning. Once you know, you must act on that knowledge, make new decisions, build new habits that turn into new ways of being in the world. You must become the person who has the life you want. If you want to become a person who has a great relationship, I can help. It sure beats just knowing why you’re single, but not knowing how to move on from that. To learn more, check out this video! Back in the early 2000’s, you could find me hanging around the self-help section of the local bookstore pretty much every week. I was a single mom who was totally frustrated with dating and hungry for answers. I read EVERYTHING! I was always looking for the next thing I needed to fix about myself in order to find love. It was like a really long treasure hunt with lots of different maps. This became my pet project, my unsolvable problem that seemed destined to haunt me throughout my life. And nothing ever changed, no matter what I read. Now I know why. Knowledge without consistent action will not create lasting change in your life. Going from chronically single to happily married cannot be achieved by grasping concepts in books. It must be lived into. I still love reading self-help, but now I seek out support to implement the changes I […]
